Pussyhat Crochet Pattern

Sport your own pussyhat with this free crochet pattern!

Items Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn (size 4) in any shade of pink
• US H/5mm crochet hook
• yarn needle (optional)

Key:
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
FPDC – front post double crochet
BPDC – back post double crochet

Fits average adult head. Chain 3 counts as first DC in each row. Turn your work after each row.

Chain 40
Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in each remaining chain
Row 2: Chain 3, *FPDC in next stitch, DC in following stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch
Row 3: Chain 3, *BPDC in next stitch, DC in following stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch (BPDC is created on the FPDC from previous row)
Row 4: Chain 3, *FPDC in next stitch, DC in following stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch (FPDC is created on the BPDC from previous row)
Row 5-31**: Chain 3, *DC in next stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch
Row 32: Chain 3, *FPDC in next stitch, DC in following stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch
Row 33: Chain 3, *BPDC in next stitch, DC in following stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch (BPDC is created on the FPDC from previous row)
Row 34: Chain 3, *FPDC in next stitch, DC in following stitch*, repeat between * * until last stitch (FPDC is created on the BPDC from previous row)
Finish: Fold your work in half and SC up each side, you can also sew it with a yarn needle instead. I personally like the look of the SC going up the outside as I feel like it defines the ears more.

**Note: How many rows of DCs you need may vary by yarn, hook, and gauge. The first 4 rows and all of your DCs (between row 28-31) should equal roughly 16 inches.
